Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
Psychological First Aids (PFA)
Introduction
- This two-day training workshop aims to provide an introduction and awareness of Psychological First Aid (PFA). PFA is an early disaster response intervention designed to promote safety, stabilize disaster survivors, and connect individuals with support and resources.
- PFA is delivered to affected individuals by mental health professionals and other first responders.
- Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a method of helping someone in distress feel calm and supported, enabling them to better cope with their challenges or difficulties.
PFA helps individuals manage their situations and make informed decisions based on the information available to them. - PFA is implemented by paying attention to an individual’s emotional reactions, actively listening, and, if necessary, providing practical assistance, such as problem-solving, helping them access basic needs, or referring them to further assistance options.
- PFA also helps stabilize anxiety and other emotions, promotes healthy self-management behaviors, instills a sense of confidence, provides comfort, and offers hope.
Objective
Upon completing the two-day program, participants will be able to:
- Identify the basic objectives and intervention strategies of Psychological First Aid.
- Acquire the necessary skills to implement Psychological First Aid intervention strategies.
- Adapt Psychological First Aid in diverse settings and with various populations.
- Appreciate the importance of providing Psychological First Aid after a disaster.
- Gain confidence in implementing Psychological First Aid immediately after a disaster.
- Identify ways to enhance care provision for responders before, during, and after disaster care in organizations.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
Introduction
- This two-day training workshop aims to provide an introduction and awareness of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA).
